From Nurse To Remodeler: A Story Built On Care,
Craft, Family…And Beautiful Bathrooms
How Compassion, Precision, And Many
Leaps Of Faith Shaped Bay State Bath
Bay State Bath didn’t start as a grand plan—it started as a happenstance. And quickly became quite fortuitous.
When our owner, Jennifer Bylo, was a nurse in a Long Island ICU, she may never have imagined that bathroom remodeling would be where she’d end up. But she’s certainly happy her career has gone this way. And so has every remodeling customer that’s walked through our doors.
Sure, our company name may be new, but we’re a company with decades of hard work, passion, and empathy behind us. And from day one, our mission has been simple: create beautiful, safe, and functional bathrooms while ‘contracting with care.’ We haven’t let up since.
Here’s how our “happy accident” happened…
From “Oops” To “Aha”
In 2003, after taking a break from nursing, Jennifer found herself “helping out” at her (now ex-) husband’s Boston Re-bath franchise. Answering phones. Scheduling appointments. Managing the customer experience.
This was not where she expected to be, with a 20+ year-long nursing resume. Plus, she was raising four kids, new to the city, and was now thrown into the middle of a business she knew nothing about.
But within months, she realized that her nursing background—critical care, operating room, intensive care—gave her a unique edge: the ability to plan, organize, and anticipate every need. Plus, she could deliver compassion, empathy, and a personal touch.
She was great at customer service…and had a true knack for the business side, too.
A True Calling: The Sound Heard Round The…South Shore
Under Jennifer’s guidance (after her husband left the business), the franchise flourished. It quickly earned recognition: Rookie of the Year, then Top 15, then Top 10.
From 2003–2015, Jennifer honed her skills, learning the intricacies of bathroom remodeling, managing teams, and ensuring every client felt heard and cared for. She treated projects like surgical procedures: each tool, each step, organized for precision and excellence, just like she did as a nurse.
This experience became the foundation for her core expertise: delivering remodeling projects with compassion, predictability, and flawless execution.

You Can’t Win Big Without Big Moves
Soon, Jennifer became the face of local marketing campaigns, bringing her enthusiasm and personal connection to every project. She discovered what many national bathroom brands lacked: the human touch.
And in 2015–2016, Jennifer decided it was time to stand on her own – she knew she had outgrown her franchisor.
BCI Acrylics, the world’s leading manufacturer of acrylic bath systems, was well aware of Jennifer’s success and asked her to bring a new product to market: the Luxury Bath laser-etched product line. It was an instant success! And as one of the most successful dealers in the nation, BCI awarded her with Elite dealer status, which gives her a more robust product offering!
Over the next several years, her company grew, fueled by the same principles she learned in nursing and franchise leadership: care for every client, meticulous planning, and consistent excellence.
The Leap Of Faith Pays Off – A Legacy Is Born
In 2022, Bay State Bath was born. Today, we represent more than bathrooms—we represent trust, family values, and expertise built over decades of hard work, passion, and grit.
Together with Jennifer’s daughters and over 40 employees, we continue our company legacy of care, empathy, and precision. Every project is more than just construction—it’s about making homes safer, more functional, and a joy to live in.
